IBSA launches the new TSUNAMI in-training project

Innovation has always been one of the main pillars of the philosophy embraced by IBSA with the aim of designing new technologies that are more flexible and more capable of adapting to every patient’s quality of life and lifestyle.
One of the fields in which the company furthers its commitment to carrying out research and studying its social implications is urology, and in particular erectile dysfunction (ED).

In fact, this disorder is still seen by many as a taboo and afflicts a very large portion of the population, especially in the age group from 40 to 70 years. In the "White Paper on the state of assistance in sexuality medicine and andrology in Italy. The health of the couple” published in 2017, it emerges that about 5 million Italians suffer from these disorders, and erectile dysfunction is the most frequent reason men seek the advice of andrology specialists.

Besides the significant negative impact on the couple’s relationship, the quality of life and a person’s self-esteem, it has also been demonstrated that there is a clear association between erectile dysfunction and metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, depressive syndrome and lower urinary tract symptoms.

Developed on the basis of such data, IBSA’s new in-training project "TSUNAMI" is aimed exclusively at health care professionals, in particular GPs, urologists and pharmacists who, more often than other specialists, need to provide the patient with information, treatments and advice on how to deal with this disorder.

The aim of this project is to collect a wealth of material and make it available to specialists to help them in their medical profession. Reports on men’s sexual health in Italy, interviews with experts on pathophysiological and psychological factors related to ED, podcasts regarding the treatments currently available, videos on the innovative FilmTecTM technologies and on the mechanisms of action of our molecules, are just some of the tools that will be provided.

The aim of this project is to provide professionals with insights into all aspects connected with erectile dysfunction in order to be able to improve the quality of life of patients, one of the main missions of our company.
