IBSA supports the #GRF20, helping 473,000 people treat themselves thanks to the Banco Farmaceutico drug bank

#GRF20: 473,000 PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO TREAT THEMSELVES THANKS TO BANCO FARMACEUTICO. 50% OF THE NEED SATISFIED, BUT THERE’S STILL A LOT TO DO!

It’s gone well! The 2020 edition of Drug Collection Day (Giornata di Raccolta del Farmaco) gathered more than 541,000 drug packets for drug banks at 4,944 pharmacies. This means that 473,000 people living in difficult or destitute conditions will be able to get the medicines they need. Medicines will be distributed by the charitable organisations affiliated with the Fondazione Banco Farmaceutico drug bank, which has coordinated the work of the more than 22,000 volunteers and the 17,000 or so pharmacists who collaborated to implement the initiative.

We’re only halfway there, though. In 2020, there is a need for 1,096,479 packs of medicines (compared to 1,040,329 packs in 2019).

Thanks to how many were collected in the #GRF20 week, over 49% of the need has been covered (compared to 40.5% in 2019).

At IBSA, we’re proud to have been at the side of those who have contributed with commitment, passion and enthusiasm to the success of the first week of the drug collection.

Our commitment in the fight against health poverty doesn’t end here. It continues through the numerous social responsibility initiatives in the region and the wider collaboration with the Banco Farmaceutico. Since 2013, we have donated around 247 million drug packs and supported the annual drafting of the Health Poverty Report.
