Fighting osteoarticular pathologies with innovation and research is IBSA’s commitment

Targeted therapies with chondroprotective drugs, topical and oral anti-inflammatory drugs, and hyaluronic acid infiltrations: this is one of the virtual pathways for arthritis patients to combat all osteoarthritic pathologies that are afflicting more and more people and not only in old age. In order to take stock of the therapeutic situation and promote research and innovations that can offer effective and safe solutions for the most common osteoarticular problems, IBSA has promoted a day of discussion on the management of osteoarthritis on the ESCEO’s international guidelines. The symposium was held in the marvelous setting of the Cloister of Santa Chiara, in Naples.

There are two reasons for this initiative: on the one hand, the unwavering attention to people’s health, which is the main feature of IBSA’s activity, and on the other hand, the awareness of the importance of fostering dialogue between experts on these issues. It is through discussion and sharing that progress is also developed in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.

The guest of honour of the day was the Italian astronaut Umberto Guidoni who spoke about his “journey” aboard the space station and the health implications of the absence of gravity. Thanks to Prof. Jean-Yves Reginster, one of the creators of the ESCEO guidelines, for his precious contribution, and to all the speakers of the day, Prof. Alberto Migliore, Prof. Maria Adele Giamberardino, Dr. Giovanni Di Giacomo, and Prof. Pietro S. Randelli.

Thanks also to our partners from Materias, Caterina Meglio and Luigi Nicolais, who came to visit us.
