IBSA Foundation together with the National Museum of Science and Technology in the Year of Leonardo

THE YEAR 2019 SEES THE START OF THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN IBSA FOUNDATION FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND THE LEONARDO DA VINCI NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM IN MILAN.

Fondazione IBSA partnership Museo nazionale della scienza e della tecnologia

The collaboration was started in the year that celebrates the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, a figure who brought together scientific and humanistic disciplines while keeping man at the centre. This trait comes very close to the mission of the IBSA Foundation, which is dedicated to fostering proper scientific dissemination and dialogue between art and science.

Silvia Misiti, Director of the IBSA Foundation, comments on this important collaboration: “We are very proud to have created this important project in the year of Leonardo, who is still today an inspiration and an example for all those committed to science.

The Italian National Museum of Science and Technology is a prestigious partner with which the Foundation has chosen this year to launch a crucial collaboration in addition to those already existing with the MASI - Museum of Art of Italian-speaking Switzerland – and MUSE – the Science Museum of Trento.” The partnership with the Milan Museum has led to a series of cultural activities and events throughout 2019, including the awarding of IBSA Fellowships, the scholarships that the Foundation gives every year to talented young researchers to support their work, the lecture on artificial intelligence, a topic of huge potential and great topicality, which is a challenge in many fields, including pharmaceuticals, and the exhibition “Dream Beasts.

The spectacular creatures of Theo Jansen,” which brings to Italy, for the first time, the works of the Dutch artist, defined by international critics as “a modern-day Leonardo da Vinci,” and the participation of James Beacham, American particle physicist, at the international event on the occasion of the European Researchers’ Night.

This successful partnership confirms IBSA’s commitment to research and innovation.
